Credits follow the work done: a text scan is 1 credit, an image 4, a document 3 (that includes its first page) plus 1 for each additional page. Archives are unpacked free — you pay only for what is inside.

Questions
What is a credit?
A unit of scanning work. A text scan costs 1 credit whatever its length — a whole conversation history or a long retrieval context counts once, up to 25 MB per request. An image costs 4 — every image goes through metadata, OCR and three steganography detectors. A document costs 3 credits including its first page, then 1 credit for each additional page, plus 4 for each embedded image the engine has to rasterise and scan. So a one-page CV is 3 credits, a ten-page PDF is 12, that same PDF with two photos is 20, and a JPEG is 4. An archive is unpacked at no charge and you pay only for what is inside; nested archives are free to unpack too. Every response says exactly what it charged. Failed scans are never charged.
What do I get on the Free Trial?
The full detection engine and 1,000 credits — enough for a few hundred short documents, so you can see real verdicts on your own files before you decide. No card required.
How does annual billing work?
Pay for twelve months up front and save 20% against the monthly price. The headline figure on an annual plan is the effective monthly cost; the total charged once a year is shown beneath it.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Scans return a 402 with your remaining balance rather than failing silently, so your pipeline can handle it deliberately. On Scale, Team and Developer you can buy a one-off top-up to carry on without waiting for the next billing period.
Can I run it in my own environment?
Yes — on Enterprise. Unwhisper runs on-premises or on edge hardware, so sensitive documents never leave your network. The licence is either flat or metered: a metered deployment reports its processing counts (scans, pages, images — never content) at its daily licence check-in, and you can see exactly what it did, priced in the same credits as the hosted plans, on your account page.
What if I need more than Scale?
Talk to us. Above 1,000,000 credits a month we agree volume terms rather than publishing a rate — either a larger hosted allowance or an Enterprise licence for your own infrastructure, flat or metered, whichever suits how your product is built.
Do you keep the content I scan?
No, never. Scanned input is never retained: it is discarded once the verdict is returned, and nothing is logged or stored. That holds for every plan — an on-premises deployment reports only counts, never what it scanned.
